Sponsor – G. Loomis Fishing Rods

WHY DO I USE G. LOOMIS FISHING RODS?

I’ve been a proud user of G.Loomis rods for nearly 20 years, a journey that began with the classic GL2 series. Over time, I’ve upgraded through the GL3, IMX, GLX, and ultimately the NRX series, witnessing remarkable evolution and improvement across every range. G.Loomis continues to innovate, crafting rods that are incredibly sensitive and ultralight, making them a true joy to fish with. These rods have played a pivotal role in my fishing career, helping me achieve milestones like my 4.98 kg largemouth bass record.

One of the highlights of my sponsorship has been visiting the G.Loomis factory in person – an unforgettable experience. Walking through the facility, I was struck by the meticulous care and precision poured into each rod. Every piece is individually evaluated to ensure only the finest quality leaves the factory. Hearing the engineers and designers discuss the blanks, components, and actions deepened my appreciation for their craftsmanship. It’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.

THE HISTORY BEHIND G. LOOMIS FISHING RODS

G.Loomis is a globally renowned name in fishing rods, bearing the legacy of its founder, Gary Loomis. But how did this iconic brand come to be? Originally a machinist, Gary was a passionate angler driven to create his ideal rod. This pursuit led him to craft the exceptional rods and establish the company we know today.

Gary’s journey began at Lamiglass, where he oversaw the production of rod blanks, honing his expertise. Eventually, he ventured out on his own, designing some of the finest rods in the industry. Beyond his rod-making achievements, Gary founded Fish First, a non-profit that collaborates with volunteers to restore wild and native salmon and steelhead runs in Washington’s Lewis River Basin. This remarkable initiative ensures future generations of anglers, including myself, can enjoy thriving fisheries – a cause I deeply admire.

As a rod maker myself, I’ve always respected Gary Loomis’s designs for their versatility and quality. There’s a G.Loomis rod suited for virtually any fishing scenario, a feat few companies achieve. I’ve crafted fly rods using Loomis blanks and have yet to be disappointed. Check out this short video for a glimpse into Gary’s story and the history of G.Loomis—I think you’ll find it fascinating:
